PARIS – “Good masters, good mistresses one and all, prepare thyselves for some medieval merrymaking” as L/A Arts teams up with McLaughlin Garden for a fall celebration Sept. 27-28.

Two authentic medieval comedies, “The Scholar from Paradise” and “John, John, Tyb and Father John,” will be presented in the four-acre garden retreat.

The two medieval interludes reflect the simple period in which they were originally performed. They are penned in rhyming couplets, are simple in situation, character and plot and have as their core theme the foibles and weaknesses of mankind. They are just plain good fun.

The plays will be performed by the Actors Touring Company of Maine, a professional, non-Equity company in association with L/A Arts. Actors include Randall Tuttle, Stacy Strang and Andrew Sawyer, each of whom has a passionate interest in historical theater.

Festivities Sept. 27 will begin at 5 p.m. General seating tickets are $25. Guests may enjoy seasonal punch and hors d’oeuvres as they tour the garden in its fall splendor. Together, the plays last about an hour.

The Sept. 28 event will begin at 2:30 p.m. and includes the same theatrical experience but with an afternoon tea. Tickets for general seating are $18.

McLaughlin Garden is at 97 Main St. Please dress appropriately for the season, because all activities will be either outdoors or in an open barn. For more information, contact L/A Arts at 782-7228 or online at www.laarts.org.
