Society to meet
DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Historical Society will meet on Thursday, Sept. 11, beginning with a members’ and directors’ meeting at 6 p.m., followed by the “Wrap-up the Summer” program.
Butch Towle will highlight some of the tools and their special uses from the John Lucas Towle Antique Tool Museum.
Members are encouraged to arrive early and attend the meeting prior to the night’s entertainment. Light refreshments will be served. The public and new members are invited.
Planning session
PERU – The Peru Extension Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Peru Baptist Church for a planning meeting for the upcoming year. A vegetable soup will be made, and members are asked to bring a vegetable to add to the soup.
Virginia Vitalla will teach doughnut-making. New members are welcome.
Class luncheon
MEXICO – The Stephens High School Class of 1943 will meet for luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Far East Restaurant. All classmates are welcome. For more information, call 364-8335.
Bottle drive
CANTON – A bottle drive will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Canton Historical Society building, Route 108, near the Big Apple. Proceeds will benefit the society.
Club picnic
CANTON – The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will have a free picnic at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Webb River Valley Sportsmen’s Clubhouse, Canton Point Road. It is open to all old members, present members and new members.
The menu will be hamburgers, hot dogs, coleslaw and cold drinks. Ideas for the year are welcome. For more information, call Jon at 562-4690.
Hearing screening
RUMFORD – The Rumford Senior Citizens and Bell Tone are sponsoring a hearing screening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17. The first 20 people will be seen. Call for an appointment at 364-4700 between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
