Church supper

WEST PARIS – A potluck supper with a program is planned for 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the First Universalist Church. It is open to the public free; bring a dish to share. Tineke Ouwinga of Bethel will be the guest speaker, talking about her life in Holland during World War II.

Supper, speaker

BETHEL – A public supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Alder River Grange. Menu will include baked beans, hot dogs, brats, salads and dessert. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 13. Following the supper, Cathy Johnson will speak at 6:15 p.m. on “Maine Woods at the Crossroads” upstairs at the hall.

VFW supper

HARRISON – A public supper will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, the VFW Hall, Route 35. Menu will include baked beans, brown bread, casseroles, macaroni and cheese, salads, pies and beverage. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. It is sponsored by Ronald G. St. John VFW Post Auxiliary 9328.

Grange supper

OXFORD – A public supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Oxford Grange, Route 26. Menu will include baked ham with raisin sauce and assorted pies. Takeout will be available. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

Cemetery meeting

HARTFORD – Maple Grove Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Union Schoolhouse, Church Street. Persons with lots in the cemetery are encouraged to attend.

Following the meeting, Hartford Historical and Improvement Society will hold the annual meeting at 11 a.m. Old and new members are welcome. People are invited to bring a lunch and visit.

Women’s lunch

PARIS – The Christian Women United will meet at the First Congregational Church Tuesday, Sept. 16. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Janet Littlefield of Hebron. Those who have not been contacted and would like to go may call Pearl Anderson at 743-5724.

Seeking crafters

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock PTA is planning its seventh annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. Members are looking for crafters who would like to rent a table for $10. Those interested should call the school at 665-2228 during school hours or e-mail Stacy Millet at [email protected].

There will be a silent auction and lunch and bake sale items will also be for sale.

Family reunion

NAPLES – The descendants of Jude and Alice LeBlanc held their annual family reunion on Aug. 9 at Sebago State Park with 27 members attending. Those attending were from Casco, Naples, Windham, Litchfield, Jay, Chelesa, Scarborough and Portland, Somerville, Mass., Concord and Derry, N.H.

Oldest person in attendance was Evelyn LeBlanc; youngest, Monica and Tia Grover. Cake was served in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Woody and Colleen Cleaveland.

The 2009 reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, at Sebago State Park. Descendants of Jude and Alice LeBlanc are invited.

Bridge winners

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 5 at Fare Share when a 6 and 1/2 table Mitchell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A N/S were Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Mike Quinn and Luke Merry; third, Ray and Ruth Tyler, also first in Flight B.

Flight B second finishers were Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens who also were first in flight C

E/W Flight A winners were Paul Kahl and Nick Kahl second, Priscilla Rooth and Hazel Glazier, also first in Flight B and C; third, Georgette Jewell and Pat Quinn; second in Flight B, Bev Pelletier and Bev Dolan.
