EAST MACHIAS (AP) – The owners of Sandy’s Sales in eastern Maine hope to be reunited with their 8-foot-tall mechanical gorilla this weekend.

Annette Farrington of Waterford has volunteered to get the gorilla dubbed “Seemore” while visiting family in Vermont this weekend. Her daughter lives about 30 miles from St. Albans, Vt., where Seemore is being held in custody by the Vermont State Police.

The robotic gorilla was stolen from Sandy’s Sales in East Machias over Labor Day weekend, and it turned up this week in a cornfield in Vermont.

Farrington stepped up after Sandy Miller complained that her husband’s truck was in no shape to make the 750-mile roundtrip to Vermont.
