Sunday sermon

PARIS – The Sunday, Sept. 14, service at 10 a.m. at the First Universalist Church, Pine Street, South Paris, will be conducted by Sharon Bouchard. Her sermon title is “Inside the Kaleidoscope.”

Music is under the direction of Forest Perkins. Coffee and fellowship will follow. All are welcome and the church is handicapped-accessible. Childcare is available.

Newest members of the church are Priscilla Crosby, Sally Brown, Barbara Varney and Richard Varney. Membership is open to all.

Indoor sale

WATERFORD – The final indoor yard sale of the season, which will be a “shake the dice for a percentage off” the total purchase of from 5 to 30 percent, will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Wilkins Community House basement at the foot of Plummer Hill Road.

There are new items and a variety of household items, books, toys and games, crafts, and “whatnots.” All proceeds will benefit the church and the Wilkins House improvement fund. For more information, call Karen at 583-2320.

Blood drive

NORWAY – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, 18 Main St.

Society speaker

PARIS – The public is welcome to attend the Thursday, Sept. 18, meeting of the Paris Cape Historical Society at 77 High St. The meeting will start with a brief business meeting at 7 p.m. followed by a program presented by Mark Bancroft of Bancroft Contracting Corp. of South Paris.

Bancroft is the owner and president of the corporation, having purchased it from his father and founder, Al Bancroft.

Mark Bancroft will give a talk on the history and mission of the company. He will include a description of the geothermal unit recently installed at the South Paris plant.

The meeting will be followed by refreshments and fellowship. The building is handicapped accessible and includes a museum and shop.
