BOWDOINHAM – Composer and fiddler Hope Hoffman will present original and traditional fiddle music, featuring tunes from her album “Infinite Winter Squash: New Maine Fiddle Music,” Friday, Sept. 26, at Merrymeeting Arts Center.

The evening of fiddle music is free.

Hoffman’s debut album is influenced by Maine dance music, which draws on Scots-Irish, French and Scandinavian traditions, early music and her imaginative and narrative approach to composing.

Her often-humorous stories behind the tunes highlight the everyday adventures of farmers and neighbors – enjoying, grappling with or musing over farm foods and extreme weather.

Known for her warm and personable shows, Hoffman performs regularly at downtown festivals, restaurants, weddings and community gatherings. She has experience as a writer, actress and dancer and has worked as a professional musician in New England for several years.

The concert will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The Merrymeeting Arts Center is at 9 Main St. For more information, call (207) 208-7942, e-mail mmeetingarts@suscom-maine.net or log on to www.merrymeetingartscenter.org.
