A couple of kids with a huge basket of paper waste were on the North Bridge, Wednesday forenoon, preparatory to dumping the paper into the river. They hoisted the basket onto the rail and just before letting the paper spill out, touched a match to it. When it landed in the water, it was all ablaze and there was such a pile that it floated well out of the water. The stuff went merrily downstream, a miniature bonfire on the water, and the boys watched it with great pleasure. Apparently it burned for some time.
