RUMFORD – Rumford Hospital and Black Mountain of Maine announce a fall Nordic walking program.

The program was started in the fall of 2006 with the help of Mike Yeo of the Maine Winter Sports Center. Walkers met for an overview, video and demonstration on the first night, then met twice weekly for walking, laughter and fun.

This year’s program will kick off on Monday, Sept. 22, with a video demonstration and pole fitting. Poles will be available for those needing them. The program will continue to meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. for six weeks. The group’s ability will determine where and how far they go. The program will end on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
