FARMINGTON – Ameranouche, a New England-based acoustic gypsy jazz trio, will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The band has won rave reviews touring New England and across the country. It performed this summer at the JVC Newport Jazz Festival, opening for Herbie Hancock, Bill Frisell and Sonny Rollins. Three of the trio’s compositions are on a National Lampoon soundtrack.

Intense, fast and colorful, Ameranouche performs with rich and riotous harmonic energy.

Members are Xar Adelberg, a Mainer, on upright bass; Ryan Flaherty of New Hampshire on rhythm guitar; and Richard “Shepp” Sheppard, also of New Hampshire, on solo guitar.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and children under 16 free. Ameranouche will also offer a workshop from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. that Saturday for musicians of all levels of experience. Registration is required, and the workshop is limited to 30 people. For more information, call 778-6830.
