GARDINER – Johnson Hall’s Center Stage series will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a Wingnuts Comedy Troupe reunion show. The Wingnuts retired last year, but agreed to get back together for an evening of improvisational comedy at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center.

The show offers high-energy comedy, fast-paced games and word play laced with musical hilarity and commercial spoofs. Suggestions for scenes and locations come from the audience.

The Wingnuts take the ordinary, like a washing machine or a day at the office, and turn it into a funny skit. Maybe it’s Jack Sparrow or Scooby Doo who shows up to fix the washing machine. Perhaps sisters Tang and One Too Lo (aka Lisa Picard, “the woman who knows no bounds,” and Penny “the punster” Carver) take over at the office, ensuring that no work gets done. Or maybe Susie “sweet stuff” DeRoehn moderates a fierce office competition over stapler rights.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for children under 13. Call 582-7144 or e-mail johnsonhall@verizon.net. The arts center is at 280 Water St.

The Center Stage Series will also include “An Evening with Mark Twain,” Oct. 25-26; and the physical comedy and circus dogs show “SheBoom!,” Nov. 22.
