Country singer-songwriter Tracy Byrd will perform in concert Friday, Sept. 26, in Freeport as a kick-off for L.L. Bean’s Hunting Expo weekend. His hits include “Watermelon Crawl,” “The Truth About Men” and “Keeper of the Stars,” which won the 1996 Academy of Country Music Song of the Year award. Besides his recording career, Byrd has hosted two TV shows on the Outdoor Channel, giving him a chance to focus on two favorite pastimes, hunting and fishing. The free performance will begin at 6 p.m., weather-permitting, in Bean’s Discovery Park. Bring a lawn chair.
