NORWAY – Frost Farm Gallery will hold a First Friday reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 3. The exhibit and sale will feature plein air landscapes of Maine and other works by Janet Gill.

Admission is free; light refreshments will be served.

Throughout her life, Gill has pursued her interest in the arts through photography, printmaking, stained glass, music, painting and graphic design. Recent classes with local artist Barbara Traficonte inspired a love for painting outdoors on location with pastels.

“I love being outdoors and plein air painting really allows me the chance to interact with the environment. Pastels are a great medium for this as they are so immediate and filled with color,” she said. “For me, each painting is an experience, a surprise and a gift that I can then share with others.”

Gill has exhibited her work in photography and pastels at The Denmark Arts Center and has participated in the Art in the Park show for two summers as a member of the Bridgton Art Guild.

Her show at Frost farm, 272 Pikes Hill, will continue through Oct. 25. For more information, contact the gallery at 743-8041.
