LEWISTON – The Perfido-Fonda-Higgins Jazz Trio will perform in concert Friday, Oct. 3, at Bates College.

The jazz trio is made up of Peter Perfido, Joe Fonda and Patience Higgins.

Perfido first began playing drums at age 8. He has worked with Bill Barron, Tomasz Stanko and Chet Baker. He currently plays in the Bob Degen Trio, the Geoff Goodman Quintet, the Peter Perfido/Jean-Michel Couchet Quartet and the O’Neil/Wolfaardt/Perfido Trio.

Fonda is a composer, bassist, recording artist and producer.An accomplished international artist, he has performed with his own ensembles and as a sideman with the likes of Archie Shepp, Dave Douglas, Kenny Barron and Bill Barron. He currently plays with the Fonda-Stevens Group. Other recent projects include the multidisciplinary From the Source, Conference Call and the FAB Trio.

Higgins plays saxophone, clarinet, flute and all double reeds. He currently leads the Sugar Hill Jazz Quartet. Known for his work with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, he has also toured and recorded with The Count Basie Orchestra, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St.
