LEWISTON – The current exhibit at L/A Arts’ Community Gallery is all about children. Seventy-two photos taken over the past year by youth in the Boys and Girls Clubs Southern Maine Auburn-Lewiston Clubhouse at their outings are on display.

Intermingled throughout the exhibit are portraits of 15 children waiting for adoptive families selected from A Family For Me – Heart Gallery.

“We hope that families coming to see the exhibit will consider opening up their hearts to children who really need the stability of a permanent home,” said Cheri Donahue, L/A Arts marketing director. “It’s one thing to know that there are hundreds of kids in our own state who, for many different reasons, have had to be permanently separated from their birth parents. But to put faces to some of those numbers touches you in an emotional way.”

The portraits, all taken by A Family for Me and Chuck Pelletier Images of Lewiston, reflect the personalities and passions of each child. Children in the Heart Gallery range in age from 11 to 17.

The Heart Gallery and Boys and Girls Club exhibit will be up through Friday, Oct. 24, at L/A Arts Community Gallery at 221 Lisbon St. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
