Maine’s first statewide business show hosted by Maine business leaders, “Jacobson & Katz: Inside Maine Business,” premieres statewide in October. The first episode airs Saturday, Oct. 4, on TV outlets statewide.

Inside Maine Business is co-hosted by Roger Katz, mayor of Augusta, and Matt Jacobson, president and CEO of Maine and Co. The first guest on Inside Maine Business is Jonathan McDevitt, CTO and executive vice president of NotifyMD.

“With the show launch, we wanted to profile a company that made a decision to establish an office in Maine and hire Maine workers,” said Jacobson. “NotifyMD is a great example of a Maine business success story. And that’s what we’ll feature-business leaders who symbolize stories about Maine business attraction, retention and incubation.”

Inside Maine Business is a production of the Ursus Media Group, headquartered in Waterville.

As president of Portland-based Maine and Co., co-host Jacobson has recruited several major companies to locate in Maine, including NotifyMD, athenahealth and Boston Financial Data Services. Prior to joining Maine & Co., Jacobson served as an executive in several railroad companies including as president of the St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad, based in Auburn.

Katz is a senior partner in the Augusta law firm Lipman, Katz and McKee. He is a former president of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. He comes to Inside Maine Business with previous television experience, as co-host of a cable television show that covers legal issues.

UMG Executive Producer Andrew Collar said the new show is shot and produced in Waterville at his company’s production facility.

The official mission statement of Inside Maine Business is to “…educate, enliven and explore the issues facing Maine’s business community today. Our goal is to have a positive impact on the growth of Maine business, improving the incomes and lifestyles of all.”

Besides airing on television, Inside Maine Business has its own Web site, www.insidemainebusiness.tv, where shows can be seen on demand.
