WATERFORD – The annual Waterford Fall Foliage 5K Road Race and Fitness Walk is coming up on Sunday, Oct. 12. The kids fun run will start at 12:30 p.m. and the 5K at noon.
The chili cook-off will coincide with the race, all taking place in Waterford Flat, at the common near the Lake House Inn. There will be drawings for prizes, and awards right after the finish. There is designated parking in the field by Rice Road
The roads leading to the event will close at 11:20 a.m. so come early to warm up and enjoy the scene. This event has grown over the years, and annually runners have come from as far away as Colorado, and this year some are coming from Alaska.
The money raised goes to the Tony Waldeier Scholarship Fund, which gives scholarships each spring to Waterford students going on to further their education. The fund has given more than $25,000 over the past seven years.
The run will go along the lake to the Bear Mountain Inn and back. For more information, call George Ames at 583-2603 or Carol Waldeier at 583-4405.
