PARIS – The Paris Public Library’s World Cultures for Homeschoolers continues in October with the conclusion of the unit on Scandinavian countries.

Held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 11 a.m., on Oct. 14, the program will look at Sweden. On Oct. 28, participants will re-examine all of Scandinavia with stories common to all five countries, review activities and share Scandinavian treats.

Led by Children’s Librarian Billie Lou Damon, the program is for homeschoolers, grades three and up, and explores geography and world cultures with folktales, fairytales and other stories.

Participants first share basic geographical and cultural information to set the stories in context. After the stories, they discuss what the tales reveal about the country and do related crafts, such as finding the country on continental and world maps and coloring the nation’s flag.
