YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) – A worker opened an abandoned suitcase in a suburban Westchester County park and a human leg popped out.

The grim discovery was made Thursday afternoon near the entrance of Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.

A county police spokesman says the worker had noticed the large black canvas suitcase on wheels earlier Thursday and went to remove it shortly before 4 p.m.

Police responding to the scene found the intact body of a white man, clothed, stuffed inside the suitcase. They say the body did not appear to be decomposed.

The suitcase with the man’s body inside has been taken to the medical examiner’s office for examination.

Tibbetts Brook Park was closed Thursday evening but will reopen on Friday morning.
