SOUTH PARIS – A business luncheon sponsored by the Western Maine Economic Development Council and the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce,will take place at the Four Seasons Function Center in South Paris on Oct. 8 at 11:30 a.m.

Attendees will receive energy saving hints, learn about strategies for reducing energy consumption and information on low-cost energy improvement loans available to small business owners.

Auburn Mayor John Jenkins will speak about how cities and towns across the area are prepared to respond to energy-related challenges this winter. Jim Wellehan, CEO of Lamey Wellehan Family Shoe Stores, will discuss bottom line savings that are possible and what his company and other businesses have done to lower their costs.

Also, joining the roster of speakers is Ed Doiron, field consultant for Efficiency Maine. He will talk about how small businesses can improve their bottom line by making improvements to their electrical systems.

The Western Maine Economic Development Council is working with Efficiency Maine to spread the word about low-cost loans available through Efficiency Maine to upgrade electrical systems for small businesses. Information on winterization, weatherization, and state, regional, and local programs will also be available.

A buffet lunch will be served. Cost for the event is $15. Reservations are required. Those interested should call the Oxford Hills chamber at 743-2281.
