LEWISTON – Entering its third year of operation, Trinity Catholic School, 17 Baird Ave., has hired James Wieland as its new development director. His job involves improving communication, marketing, strategic planning, fundraising and offering a supportive role to the principal, Paul Yarnevich.

Wieland was born in Corning, Calif., and moved to Conway, N.H., at the age of 12 where we completed his secondary education. At Kennett High Schools, he won awards for public speaking, law studies and influence, music and martial arts. He then moved to Orono to receive a bachelor of science degree in business management, a bachelor of science degree in business marketing, with a minor in music from the University of Maine. In 2003, he started his own Web site design and photography business, Optec Industries, which will be donating resources to Trinity for a new Web site and for media designs. In 2007, he was named to the board of Online Course Search, LLC, and in 2008 he became a partner with Demeter, based in Washington state and Hawaii. He is a recent alumnus of two major performance groups – The Maine Steiners and Maine Euphony – and acts at a liaison for The Karenzukai Association, an international martial arts society. He has recently relocated to Lewiston.
