Executive session
Issue: The Town Council met for a closed door session that lasted about 45 minutes to discuss personnel matters, labor negotiations and to interview applicants for appointed committees, after which the regular meeting was called to order. No votes were taken.
Sand, sewer contracts
Issue: Each year the town seeks bids to provide sand for winter roads.
The scoop: Councilors awarded the contract for winter sand to Glenn Dube Gravel, the only bidder, at $6 per cubic yard for an estimated 1,600 yards.
Crooker Construction was awarded the contract for sewer replacement on Scottsdale Avenue and Main, Huston and Park streets on its low bid of $125,550. Work will begin this fall, and the projects will be completed in the spring. Other bidders were Ray Labbe and Longchamps.
Licenses and permits
The scoop: After public hearings, liquor licenses and special entertainment permits were issued to the Lisbon Left Hand Club and Coombs-Mountfort American Legion Post 158.
Loan application
The scoop: A new short application form for the Revolving Loan Fund, (for $15,000 and under), recommended by the Revolving Loan Committee and Community Development Director Rosie Bradley, was approved.
Appointments
The scoop: Ethics Panel, David Bowie for three years, Sandy Craig for one year, and Ross Cunningham as an alternate; Recreation Committee, Marcie Crosskill for three years and William Tapley as an alternate.
Elections
The scoop: For the Oct. 28 recall election, Sarah Gray, warden in Ward II. Polls open from 1 to 7 p.m. at MTM Community Center.
For the Nov. 4 election, Ward I warden Sheila Gray and deputy warden Monique Gayton; Ward II, warden Jody Durisko and deputy warden Ed Madden. Ward I polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the superintendent’s office, 19 Gartley St.; Ward II pools open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at MTM Community Center, 16 School St.
