CARTHAGE – New England Celtic Arts will present John Mann, Maine author and lecturer of the Maine Ulster Scots Project, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center.

This will be the first in a new lecture series being offered at Skye Theatre. All proceeds will go toward the addition currently under way at Skye Theatre.

Maine has one of the highest percentages of Scots and Scots-Irish people in America and yet little has been written about their journey to, and influence on, Maine and America.

Mann is a professional land surveyor, chairman of the Maine Ulster-Scots Project and a descendant of the Means and other Ulster-Scots families of Freeport. The Saint Andrews Society of Maine sponsors the Maine Ulster-Scots Project. Its mission is to gather and save the stories of Maine’s Ulster-Scots families and to periodically publish and otherwise share that information with the public and with Maine’s schoolchildren.

Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2. Admission is $10 at the door. Call New England Celtic Arts at 562-4445 for reservations. For more information, log on to www.necelticarts.com.
