Monmouth family photo wins
MONMOUTH – The Kolenda family of North Monmouth was among the winners of the Fresh Air Fund’s 2008 Photo Contest.
All winners were selected from the hundreds of pictures sent in by host families throughout 13 states and Canada, reflecting the experiences they shared with their New York City visitors this summer.
Categories included pool party, barnyard adventures and best friends.
The Kolenda photo was awarded first place in the Green Thumbs category, and features Fresh Air visitors, Seniah and Keymah, enjoying summertime fun in Maine.
Those interested may check out the other winners on the fund’s Web site at http://www.freshair.org/photo-contest.aspx.
Nearly 5,000 New York City children visited volunteer host families in suburban and rural communities through the Fund’s Friendly Town program this summer.
The Fresh Air Fund needs more families to volunteer as hosts in 2009. There are no financial requirements.
