OXFORD – The New England Forestry Foundation and the Western Foothills Land Trust will host a tour of the life in the Page Family Community Forest from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. All ages are welcome.
The forest on the west shore of Marshall Pond was sold to the New England Forestry Foundation at a reduce price by Patricia Page. She donated a conservation easement to the Western Foothills Land Trust.
Gardener Brook runs through the middle of the forest and has a fair-sized open wetlands system in the southeast corner of the lot. The forest has been managed over the years and there are stands of several different ages. The walk is part of New England Forestry Foundation’s Community Forest Discovery Days events throughout New England in the summer and fall. Visit www.newenglandforestry.org or call 978-952-6856 for details. All events are free and open to the public.
Those participating should meet at the dam at Marshall Pond on the Marshall Pond Road off the Merrill Hill Road.
