JAY – Police are investigating the theft of a Brave 22-ton wood splitter stolen from a lot at 132 Borough Road, which is off East Jay Road in East Jay.

The splitter does not weigh 22 tons but that is the name of the device.

The splitter is the type that may be pulled behind a vehicle to a site, police Sgt. Troy Young said.

The splitter, owned by an East Dixfield man, is capable of splitting logs both horizontally and vertically, Young said.

It was stolen either late Sunday or early Monday.
