AUGUSTA – Norway Savings Bank in Norway and Jotul North America in Gorham were named the Best Places to Work in Maine at The Society for Human Resource Management’s Maine State Council’s awards and recognition dinner in Augusta, held recently.

The assessment process, administered by the Best Companies Group, evaluated each company’s employee policies and procedures as well as responses from the company’s employees. A list of the 26 companies that made the overall Best Places to Work was released in August.

Norway Savings Bank of Norway took top rating in the large (250-plus employees) category, with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice of Lewiston placing second. Manpower of Auburn was second in the small/medium (15-249 employees) category.

The gala, presented in conjunction with the Best Companies Group, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, the Maine Department of Labor, The Maine Jobs Council, Employment Times, HR Times and Mainebiz, recognized companies that have established and consistently fostered outstanding workplaces.

Other area companies making the list of 26 are: Mountain, LTD, of New Gloucester, Oxford Networks of Lewiston, and Patrons Oxford Insurance Company of Auburn.
