AUGUSTA (AP) – The latest state survey shows that heating oil prices in Maine continue to tumble, with the cash price down 20 cents in the past week to a statewide average of $3.08 per gallon.

The state energy office reports a wide range of prices, from a low of $2.40 at a dealer in southwestern Maine to a high of $3.40 in central, eastern and western regions.

The survey also found kerosene prices at an average of $3.74 a gallon and propane for domestic heating at $3.14.

Energy office Director John Kerry says prices have come down amid expectations of a slowing economy and as motorists cut back on their driving.
