WATERVILLE – Alyssa St. Pierre scored the game-winner goal in the first overtime to lift UMaine-Farmington to a 2-1 win over Thomas in local college field hockey action.

The first goal of the contest came at the end of the first half when Emma Dean beat the Thomas’ keeper to give the Beavers the 1-0 lead with 6:35 left. Thomas tied the contest when Amy Miles received a pass from Kellie Martel and found the back of the cage.

Kaeleigh Barker had one save in the win for Farmington, while Megan Denby recorded nine saves in the losing effort for Thomas.

Women’s soccer

Bates 4, UMaine-Farmington 0

LEWISTON – Julie Brown tallied two goals, one scored within the box assisted by Avery Pierce, to lead Bates to a 4-0 blanking of the University of Maine at Farmington.

Bates was awarded an own goal in the first half as a UMF player who was attempting to clear the ball mistakenly angeled the ball into her own net. Jen Marino was the closest player to the action for the Bobcats. Courtney Talcott scored an unassisted goal from inside the penalty area to round out the Bobcats (5-7) attack.

Beaver (7-6) goaltender McKell Barnes was busy in net, recording 11 saves on 35 Bates shots. Annie Burnes turned back threee shots to record her first career shutout for Bates.

Boys’ soccer

Hebron 7, CVA 2

HEBRON – Billy Brewster tallied a hat-trick and was credited with an assist as Hebron scored all seven of their goals in the first half, posting a 7-2 win over Carrabassett Valley Academy Wednesday.

Mike Skelton notched a pair of goals, while Vladyslav Gavrik and Eric Rodriguez rounded out the offensive effort with goals of their own.

For CVA, Henry Townsend had a goal and an assit, while Ben More also had a goal.

Field hockey

Hebron 1, Tilton 0

Tilton, NH – Kailey Bubier scored the game-winning goal for Hebron at the 6:35 mark of the overtime period to give Hebron the 1-0 win over Tilton Wednesday in local field hockey action.

The Lumberjacks outshot Tilton, 11-5, and enjoyed a 13-2 edge in penalty corners but couldn’t shake Tilton. Meghan Munro earned her sixth shutout.
