MONMOUTH – The United Church of Monmouth will present Two Old Friends, longtime Maine musicians Mac McHale and Emery Hutchins, in a benefit concert Saturday, Nov. 1 in the church sanctuary.

The 7 p.m. performance will be preceded by a roast pork dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the Packard Activity Center at the church.

Two Old Friends play and sing a unique combination of Celtic and American country music. Original founders of Northeast Winds, “Mac and Hutch” traveled and recorded with The Winds for nearly 18 years. For the past 17 years, McHale has lead the well-known group Mac McHale and the Old Time Radio Gang. Hutchins has been an important part of the Angel Band, a world famous Irish music group.

They present American blues pieces juxtaposed with Irish jigs and reels. Original melodies, songs and stories by the artists are part of a performance that tells of the loss and renewal, despair and hope, and anguish and joy of the Irish and every other group of people who have traveled to and within America.

General admission tickets may be purchased for $12 at Cumston Public Library on Main Street or by sending check or money order and a self-addressed stamped envelope to Two Old Friends tickets, P.O. Box 73, Monmouth ME 04259. Seating is limited, but any remaining tickets will be available for $14 at the door.

Admission for the dinner is $5 per person, $2.50 for ages 6 to 12; children 5 and younger admitted free. The United Church is on Main Street.
