BETHEL – One man was arrested after four people suffered knife wounds during an altercation at a party late Friday night.

Officer George Gould of the Bethel Police Department said the incident took place at the Hostel Motel on West Bethel Road. He said the people involved were attending a Halloween birthday party at the motel.

Albert Joseph Cyr Jr., 44, of Route 2 in Bethel, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. His bail was set at $20,000 cash or $50,000 surety, with conditions that he not possess alcohol or dangerous weapons and have no contact with the victims.

Cyr made surety bail on Saturday afternoon.

Gould said Macy Blaisdell, 28; Casey Parker, 31; and Michael McKinney and April Leonard, ages unknown, all of Bethel, suffered cuts to their hands and forearms. He said Blaisdell was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway with wounds to his right hand and Cyr went as well with possible similar injuries.

Gould said he did not know if the other individuals sought medical attention. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

“It was an altercation. It could possibly be in self-defense,” Gould said.

Gould said there was alcohol at the party, but he did not know how many people were there or what led to the altercation.
