SEBAGO – 2008 marks the 20th anniversary of Schoolhouse Arts Center as a community theater and arts-education program. To celebrate, Schoolhouse will hold a 20th Anniversary Celebration and Silent Auction Saturday, Nov. 8. There will be a champagne reception, activities for children, silent auction, slide show of the last 20 years and entertainment. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake was formed in the spring of 1988 by Hank and Nancy Beebe. The first endeavor was to produce community plays. An arts-education program was implemented in the fall of 1989. A board of directors was formed in 1990. In 1994, the group purchased the old Standish High School building in Sebago Lake Village. The basement is used as the main performance space, with first- and second-floor rooms as classroom space.

If you would like more information or wish to help with the celebration, donate auction items or be included on the invitation list, contact Terri Plummer at 642-3743 or education@schoolhousearts.org. Silent auction items can be dropped off at Schoolhouse any evening between 6 and 8 o’clock.
