BOSTON (AP) – The cost of a gallon of regular gas in Maine continues to tumble, with the average price statewide at $2.40.
The AAA reported Monday that the price has fallen 85 cents a gallon in the past month and now stands at roughly half what it was in mid-July.
The average price in Maine is 16 cents above the national average of $2.24.
The AAA bases its price reports on credit card transactions at more than 85,000 stations around the country.
