SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) – Medco Health Solutions says it will close Maine-based IntelliCare Inc., a telemedicine subsidiary, by the end of February.

The Portland Press Herald says Medco Health Solutions expects to keep about 35 to 50 of IntelliCare’s 250 employees after the company closes by the end of February.

Medco spokeswoman Ann Smith said IntelliCare did not fit into Medco’s long-range business plans. IntelliCare was acquired by Medco when it bought PolyMedica Corp. in October 2007.

IntelliCare, based in South Portland, works with health care facilities across the country. Its nurses communicate directly with patients. The company was founded in 1997.
