BETHEL – The Mahoosuc Community Band will offer traditional favorites as well as newer selections at its holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 7, at West Parish Congregational Church.
Music performed at the 4 p.m. concert will include “Sleigh Ride,” “Greensleeves,” “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” “A Christmas Medley” and a featured suite by Holtz. There will be refreshments following the concert when people can visit with the musicians.
Donations will help with music and instrument purchases and ongoing costs to run the volunteer community band, which has been bringing music to the Bethel area for about 15 years. It was formed when the music program was eliminated from School Administrative District 44 as a cost-savings measure.
Since then, the group has grown to include people from Hanover, Dixfield, Waterford and Paris as well as Telstar High School and Gould Academy.
New members, or old-timers who may need to dust off their instruments, are always welcome. For more information, contact Patricia Boyle-Wight, director, at 824-8453 or PBoyleWight@Ants.edu; or Brian Dunham, president, at 665-2967 or trumpets3u@yahoo.com.
