LEWISTON – Citing innovative leadership in developing a soil carbon program, Maine Rural Partners Executive Director Mary Ann Hayes announced recently that Susan Gammon of the Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District is the recipient of a Partner of the Year Individual Merit Award for 2008.

Tanya Swain of Western Mountains Alliance received a merit award for Model Outreach Partner and Team Building.

Led by Gammon, the Maine Soils Carbon Program will offer farms the ability to enter the ecosystem services market for carbon sequestration.
