BETHEL – Selectmen will hold a special board meeting at 4 p.m. Friday in the Town Office to consider authorizing documents related to the GAMM building lease with Maine Energy Systems LLC.

Maine Energy Systems is a Bethel-based startup business that will market a line of wood-pellet furnaces in the former GAMM building on a 4.7-acre town parcel at North and Davis roads.

In the past decade, the 20,000-square-foot, single-story building was leased to American Skiing Co., former owners of the Sunday River and Sugarloaf/USA ski resorts.

Earlier this year, Bethel voters authorized selectmen to enter a two-year lease agreement at $42,500 per year with Maine Energy Systems for the property at 8 Airport Road in Bethel.

An affiliate of the tenant, Maine Energy Systems Depot Leasing, is finalizing financing with the bank so the company can acquire wood pellet storage silos being built at the site.
