NEW YORK (AP) – The brother of the late New York mafia boss John Gotti has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a botched assassination of a bagel store owner.

Vincent Gotti apologized to his family Friday for his actions, saying he was “extremely remorseful.” He is 56.

A federal judge also sentenced Gotti’s 41-year-old nephew, Richard, to eight years for his role in the 2003 shooting of Angelo Mugnolo.

Prosecutors say mobsters shot Mugnolo three times outside his home in Queens. He survived.

Vincent Gotti allegedly suspected the bagel store owner of having an affair with his wife.
