AUBURN – Kirsten Prue poured in 17 points and Francesca Lally added 14 to lead Edward Little to a season-opening 45-40 girls’ basketball victory over Mt. Ararat on Saturday.

The Red Eddies opened a 26-21 lead by halftime, and maintained the lead throughout the second half. Kayla Cummings sealed the game with a pair of free throws.

Prue buried four 3-pointers, while Lally sank a pair. Abigail Downs was a defensive standout.

Tegan Talbot led Mt. Ararat with 12 points.

Rangeley 51, Greenville 31

GREENVILLE – Hayley White scored 18 points and recorded five steals to spark Rangeley to a 51-31 victory over Greenville in their Class D season opener Saturday.

The Lakers built a 27-18 lead by halftime and was never seriously challenged the rest of the way.

Sam Olivieri added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Rangeley, while Chantal Carrier also scored 10 points. Gritel Breton led Greenville with nine points.

Hockey

Lewiston 7, Biddeford 3

BIDDEFORD – Marisa Zamrock punched in four goals and teammate Michelle Rancourt added a pair as Lewiston rolled over Biddeford, 7-3, in a hockey game at Biddeford Ice Arena on Saturday.

The undefeated Blue Devils (4-0) jumped out to a 5-2 lead by the end of the second period. Emilie Cloutier also scored, and teammate Katie Bonawitz had two assists.

For the Tigers, Sara Grover slipped in a pair of goals on two Olivia Gagnon assists. Ashley Lemelin scored the other goal for Biddeford.
