Dear Sun Spots: A few days ago, someone was wondering who would be able to repair her sewing machine because Cote Bros. is closing. I have had my sewing machines repaired at the South Portland Sewing Center, 14 Cottage Road, South Portland. The phone number is (207)799-0032. Owner is Pat Devroy and his daughter Debra. I was very satisfied with the work and the exceptional service I received. They also carry Berninas. Keep up the good work Sun Spots! – No Name, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: I realize this may seem a bit unusual, but I have been trying to contact my stepfather for the last couple of years. I tried to notify him when my mother passed, and also because this man raised me and my sister for 18 years, I feel it is necessary to contact him as I and his granddaughter are all that is left of my family. I know he is in Monmouth, I am in hopes he has a computer or reads this column. Please, Bill, contact me (207) 751-7449, or contact me through e-mail freebyrd1@suscom-maine.net. Thank you. – Jacquie L. Delasso, Brunswick.

Dear Sun Spots: Several times you have mentioned in your column “Tom’s Feral Friends.” I have a wounded cat that comes to my house at night and after calling several different sources cannot find help for him. In the hope that Tom’s Feral Friends can help me with this problem, could you please e-mail me the number where they can be reached. Thanks very much. – Mary, No Town.

Answer:
Norm Blais, owner of Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends may be reached at 650-8374 or write to P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236.

Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for fielding my question! I am trying to find affordable piano lessons (in the Greene area, L-A is fine) for my incredibly talented husband as a Christmas gift. He’s expressed interest and anytime we’re around a piano or any musical instrument he just sits down and starts figuring out how to play songs, and he’s good! He definitely has an ear for music and I want to help nurture this talent.

I am also looking for a keyboard (or do readers suggest something else?) so that he can practice at home and any lightly used piano books. I’m working on a tight budget (as is everyone else these days) and would appreciate your readers’ help. E-mail getime@aol.com. – Musically Motivated, Greene.

Answer: Contact Valerie Chipman in Lisbon at 320-0165 for more information on piano lessons. Valerie has a degree in music and offers both voice and piano lessons. She is accepting new students for piano at this time.

Dear Sun Spots: Recently a reader asked how to avoid odors in front-loading washing machines. I have found that pouring a little vinegar on a rag and leaving it in the washer works well. Would still recommend wiping up any water left in the machine. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: For anyone who wants LPs, 45s, cassettes, reel-to-reel tapes, even 8-tracks (remember them?) transferred to compact disc, I can do that for them. E-mail me at nascar810@earthlink.net. – No Name, No Town.
