AUBURN – A local couple were arrested Wednesday on drug charges.
Alexander Girardin, 21, and Samantha Hinson, 19, both of 40 Summer St., were charged with aggravated trafficking of a scheduled Z drug. The Class C felony is punishable by up to five years in prison. The charge was aggravated because the couple’s apartment is located within a so-called “designated drug-free safe zone,” authorities wrote in a news release.
Officers from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Auburn Police Department executed a search warrant at the couple’s home and seized prepackaged bags of processed marijuana, prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia, a drug sale ledger and $800 in cash.
Bail was set at $1,000 cash apiece.
