BANGOR – Michelle Holmquist led a group of five players in double figures as Central Maine Community College rolled over Eastern Maine 95-46 in a women’s basketball matchup Wednesday.

Holmquist paced the undefeated Mustangs (9-0) with 19 points, while Kerri Harris tallied 13 and Victoria Lovely added 11. Kate Dargie and Christy McAuliffe also contributed 10 apiece.

Nikki Kaulback paced Eastern Maine (1-7) with 16 points, while Theresa Speidlmeir added nine.

Southern Maine 59, Salem St. 32

GORHAM – The University of Southern Maine women’s basketball squad used a 34-19 run in the second half to pull away for a 59-32 victory over Salem State Wednesday evening.

Kaylie DeMillo led the Huskies (7-0) with 12 points, while Kristi Violette added 10 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.

UMF 71, Thomas 58

FARMINGTON – Caitlin Laflin powered the University of Maine at Farmington to a 71-58 win over Thomas College Wednesday evening at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Laflin led the Beavers (3-3) with a game-high 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Erin Porter chipped in for UMF with 15 points, while Jillian Ross added 14.

The Terriers (2-4) were led by Monmouth native Cortney Barrett with 14 points.

UNE 82, Framingham 49

BIDDEFORD – Sara Pelkey scored a game-high 13 points to lead four University of New England players in double figures as the Nor’easters won their third straight women’s basketball game, 82-49, over Framingham State on Wednesday night.

Kelley Paradis and Margo Russell scored 12 points apiece for UNE, while first-year guard Kari Pelletier of South Paris came off the bench to tally 10.

Men’s basketball

Oklahoma 78, Maine 52

NORMAN, Okla. – Blake Griffin had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 5 Oklahoma to a 78-52 victory over Maine on Wednesday night.

Griffin made his first six shots and finished 11-of-13 from the field. The 6-foot-10 sophomore recorded his seventh double-double of the season. He played 22 minutes and 14 of his points came on dunks.

Oklahoma (9-0) is off to its best start since the 2003-04 team opened with 10 straight wins. Mark Socoby had 10 points to lead the Black Bears (5-5), who shot 29 percent from the field and had 20 turnovers.

UMF 86, Thomas 73

FARMINGTON – Josh Tanguay netted a career-high 28 points to lead the University of Maine at Farmington men’s basketball team past Thomas, 86-73, in a North Atlantic Conference men’s contest at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Tanguay, who also matched a career-high with 13 rebounds, was followed by Andrew Dean and Eric Taylor with 15 points for the Beavers (3-3). Ted Neil added 14.

Andrew Duncanson tallied 25 points to lead Thomas. Isaiah Brathwaite and Darrell Alexander supplied 14 and 11 points, respectively.
