Subscribers of the New England Telephone Co. who have had out-of-town calls this week have noticed a new rule in the inquiry of the local operator of the place wanted. At first this sounded a little inquisitive and some of the subscribers felt like keeping the information to themselves, but when they considered the hello girl had things her own way they melted and pronounced as pleasantly as possible the name of the place desired. Under the new rule the local operators handle all calls for Lisbon Falls, Mechanic Falls, Danville Junction, Minot, Sabatis and New Gloucester, the other toll calls go to the toll operator the same as before.

Five three-month-old wild puppies, which Turner residents feared might harm children in the neighborhood, have been captured by a former game warden, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department.

Three of the pups were caught in a trap last week and the other two were captured over the weekend. The five dogs will be taken to the K-9 Shangri-La. The puppies were born in a fox hole and have run wild since birth.
