BRUNSWICK – The Young People’s Theater, The Theater Project’s elementary and middle school program, will present “Pinocchio” the second and third weekends in December. This production is the result of a production class for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

Director Al Miller has adapted the famous story to fit a young cast of 17. Three storytellers – Meghan McGuire, Vivian Tracy and Maddie Kay – connect the audience with the story and are active in the show as Pinocchio (Sophie Knox) ignores advice from Geppetto (Garrett LeRoy) and Cricket (Anna Ferdinand) and heads off into the world to discover who he is.

Miller and assistant director Emily Bowie have the young actors on stage for most of the play as thieves, teachers, students, puppet masters, puppets, chickens, windows and doors and more. Samantha Menair and Jack Labrecque are Cat and Fox, the first two rascals who lead Pinocchio astray. Nathanial Barter, Olivia LeRoy, Gabe Kunhardt, Natalie Grant, Emma Katz, Julianna Nelson, Caitlin Deck, Drew Settle and Charlotte Crosby round out the cast.

Performances, suitable for families, will run Dec. 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday, with a suggested ticket price of $6. Tickets are available by calling 729-8584, visiting the box office at 14 School St., or online at www.theaterproject.com.
