AUBURN – Ben Wigant scored six goals and added two assists to lead Lewiston to a 14-0 romp over Twin Cities rival Edward Little in a classic KVAC boy’s hockey matchup Wednesday.

Sam Cloutier and Ben McDonough chipped in for the Blue Devils (2-0) with two goals each, while single tallies by Ryan Lemlin, Zack Racine, Robbie Leeman and Zack Parker completed the scoring. Cam Pussard stopped all eight shots he faced to preserve the shutout.

Lewiston set the tone for this one with a 5-0 onslaught in the first period.

Poland-GNG 7, Massabesic 3

BIDDEFORD – Ben Piper sparked a four-goal second period as Poland/Gray-New Gloucester skated to a 7-3 victory over Massabesic in local boy’s hockey action Wednesday.

Piper ignited a rally that also saw goals from David Provencher, Nate Becker and Chris Lessard. Colby Arnold, Evan Baggs and Piper all found the net in the third period to overwhelm two goals from Massabesic.

Sean Bilodeau stopped 24 of 21 shots in net to notch the win. Greg Lodge tallied both goals for Massabesic (0-5) but could not handle a team the caliber of Poland by himself.
