DIXFIELD – Tom Knight torched the nets for 37 points, hauled down 25 of Dirigo’s 50 rebounds and blocked five shots in a convincing 62-38 MVC victory over Wiscasset on Saturday.

The Cougars enjoyed a 33-18 halftime lead and never looked back as they remain unbeaten through six games this season.

Tyler Chiasson hit for 11 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Cougars, while Eric Bolduc scored eight points and dished out eight assists.

Nick Hinkley led the Redskins (5-1) with 11 points and Jason Dennison added eight.

Elan 53, Seacoast 36

AUBURN – Jack Peters scored 19 points, and Jordan Vachon added 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead Elan to a season-opening 53-36 triumph over Seacoast Christian.

Peters had a strong all-around game with six steals and seven assists. Jay Archer scored 13 points to lead Seacoast Christian (2-1).

St. Dom’s 53, Sacopee Valley 31

SOUTH HIRAM – Aaron Allen went on a scoring binge, dropping in 20 points, as St. Dom’s held Sacopee Valley to single-digit scoring for three quarters and glided off with a 53-31 victory in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.

The Saints (2-2) jumped out to 23-12 lead at halftime and put it away with an 18-point outburst in the third quarter. Peter Keaney scored 12 points for St. Dom’s.

For the Hawks (0-5), Blais Whitney scored 12 points and teammate Joe Anderson added another 10.

Boothbay 54, Telstar 44

BETHEL – Zak Vanderlaan scored 18 points and Dylan Brandt scored eight of his 10 points during the pivotal second quarter to lead Boothbay to a 54-44 victory over Telstar in an MVC boys’ basketball game Saturday.

A 19-13 advantage in the second quarter proved decisive for the Seahawks (4-1). The remaining three quarters were virtually even.

Alex Gorey and Dan Hallinan added 10 points each for Boothbay. Dan Vaughn led Telstar (1-4) with 11 points, while Alex Gundersen and Ben Field chipped in with six apiece.

Greely 62, Poland 23

CUMBERLAND – Senior forwards Sam Thompson and Chris Young recorded 14 points apiece as Greely cruised to a 62-23 triumph over Poland in WMC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Rangers sprinted to a 15-2 first quarter lead and improved to a 29-10 halftime advantage.

The Knights (1-5) struggled in the opening and closing quarters, only scoring five points in the two frames. Junior point guard Trey Ouellette scored 11 points on four field goals and a free throw, including a pair of treys.

Madison 72, Livermore Falls 60, OT

MADISON – Senior forward Simon Elias scored an impressive double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds as Madison pulled out a 72-60 overtime victory over Livermore Falls in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Andies (1-5) rallied back from a third quarter 10-point deficit to tie the game in regulation. Junior guard Chandler White rattled off 21 points, while junior center Tom Ventrella recorded 17 points and junior forward Derek Castonguay added 11 points.

The Bulldogs (2-3) did a fine job of spreading the floor and hauling down rebounds by committee. Junior point guard Cody Small garnered 15 points, while senior forward Ezra Gourley tossed in 10 points in the winning effort.

Hall-Dale 49, Mt. Abram 47

STRONG – Keith McGillivary’s 14 points led three Hall-Dale players in double figures as the Bulldogs edged Mt. Abram 49-47 on a buzzer beating tip-in.

Senior guard Sam Simpson paced the Roadrunners (0-5) with 15 points, Jim Barker registered 12 and Corey Tripp added nine.

The Roadrunners struggled from the line, converting seven shots in 16 attempts.

Ryan Leach drained 12 points and Tim Day added 10 for the Bulldogs.

Winslow 54, Oak Hill 26

WALES – Winslow held Oak Hill just 12 points in the first half and then rang up 31 points in the second half, as the Black Raiders rode off with a 54-25 victory over the Raiders in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.

Oak Hill could only muster four points in the final quarter.

For the Black Raiders (3-2), Scott Siviski was the game-high scorer with 13 points, and teammate Mike McCann dropped in 10.

For Oak Hill, Josh Allen scored the team-high seven points.

Greenville 56, Buckfield 43

GREENVILLE – Ritchie Munster and Alex Jardiene scored 17 mpoints apiece to lead Greenville to a 56-43 victory over Buckfield.

Kyle Rines scored 12 points and Tyler Weymouth added 11 for the Bucks (0-3).
