LEWISTON – Mechanics Savings Bank will open its new Lewiston branch at 664 Main St. on Jan. 2. The construction project began last April and since that time, the branch has been operating from a temporary facility onsite.

The new branch will be more than 50 percent larger than the former facility that was constructed in 1973, and will include an additional drive-up service window, a freestanding drive-up ATM, a larger lobby, and a conference room for customer meetings. In addition, the parking area has been expanded.

Architect Nathaniel Salfas of Gardiner designed the new facility and R&R Construction Inc. of Lewiston served as general contractor for the project.

Founded in 1875, Mechanics Savings Bank serves customers from three branch offices located in Auburn, Lewiston and Windham.
