“The Maine Show,” Maine’s first and only statewide adventure show highlighting destinations and events in Maine, will premiere statewide in January. The first episode of “The Maine Show,” hosted by two Maine guides, is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 4, on Time Warner Cable.

From Kittery to Fort Kent and Calais to Rangeley, “The Maine Show” explores each region’s recreational opportunities by presenting the distinctive destinations, local products, and authentic people that make Maine such a wonderful place to live, work and play.

“The Maine Show” is hosted by Maine adventurers Jeff Riddle and Stephanie Koetzle. The first episode of “The Maine Show” is on location in Kennebunk as Riddle and Koetzle ride the waves and surf the Maine coast.

“With the show launch, we wanted to profile an activity that people in Maine can enjoy year-round,” said host Jeff Riddle. “Surfing is a great example of an activity in Maine that’s gaining in popularity. We show how it’s accessible to all Mainers. That’s what the ‘The Maine Show’ is all about – activities we all can do right here in our own state that are right in our own backyard.”

“The Maine Show” is a production of the Ursus Media Group, headquartered in Waterville. This 15-year-old multimedia company produced “Wildfire,” the state’s only television show dedicated to conservation issues as well as the long-running “Harry Vanderweide’s Northeast Journal,” which is broadcast throughout Maine and New England. UMG also produces “Inside Maine Business,” hosted by Roger Katz and Matt Jacobson, and is Maine’s newest and only show that looks behind the scenes at the issues facing Maine’s business community today.

“Our experience as a media company with “Northeast Journal” opened a world of opportunities for recreation in the state. And we discovered that many Maine families are looking for just that, destinations and events which are in their backyard and accessible,” said UMG President Brian Pomerleau. “There were few outlets for Maine families to find the information they need to explore and experience Maine. ‘The Maine Show’ will do that – bring Maine adventures to families through a television show and Web site.”

The Web site will provide itineraries and in-depth destination information on all featured locations. The information will also be accessible through social networking sites such as YouTube and Facebook.

“The Maine Show” can be seen on Time Warner channels 9 and 12 on Sundays at 7 p.m., Mondays at 11:30 a.m., Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. Besides airing on television, “The Maine Show” has its own Web site, www.themaineshow.com, where current and past shows can be viewed on demand.
