LEWISTON – As part of the WRBC FM Never-Ending Concert Series, the Brooklyn-based band Black Taxi will perform Saturday, Jan. 17, at Bates College.

Black Taxi, which includes Bill Mayo of Waterville, is an indie rock band that draws influence from musicians ranging from The Doors to TV on the Radio.

Bates’ own The Lynwood James will open the concert, which is free. Doors will open at 9 p.m. at Benjamin Mays Center.

This fall, Black Taxi was one of more than 100 bands to participate in the College Music Journal Music Marathon in New York City. Additionally, it was a finalist in 2008’s M.E.A.N.Y. Fest competition, also held in New York.

Established in 1958, Bates College Radio, WRBC, plays a variety of music from all genres and eras. Shows are hosted by students and members of the Lewiston-Auburn community.
