SOUTH HIRAM – Sophomore forward Sarah Gosselin notched scored eight points and hauled down 16 rebounds to lead St. Dom’s to a 36-18 doubling effect over Sacopee Valley in WMC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Saints (4-4) made the contest all about defense, limiting the Hawks (0-8) to no more than seven points in any one quarter. Sophomore center Allaina Murphy pitched in with eight points.

Junior guard Stacey Whitney led Sacopee Valley with six pionts in the losing effort.

Cony 54, Lewiston 30

AUGUSTA – Chelsea Arbour recorded 11 points for Cony as the Rams catapulted themselves into the lead with a 20-point second quarter en route to a 54-30 triumph over Lewiston.

The Rams led 28-11 at intermission.

Senior center Kim Archibald notched a double-double for the Blue Devils (0-10), scoring 15 points and hauling down 15 rebounds.

Oak Hill 46, Belfast 36

WALES – Oak Hill rallied back from an 11-7 first quarter deficit to pull out a 46-36 victory over Belfast in KVAC girls’ basketball.

Alex Donald and Maggie Sabine led the Raiders (6-4) with 17 points each. Oak Hill took control with a 17-4 run in the second frame.

Belfast (3-7) was paced by Brittany Dyer with 17 points, while Whitney Cross added seven. Belfast stayed even with its opponent at 12-12 in the third but failed to erase Oak Hill’s nine-point advantage.

Jay 63, Telstar 21

JAY – Liz LeBlanc scored a game-high 27 points Thursday evening to propel Jay to a 63-21 rout over Telstar.

Hillary Deane chipped in for the powerhouse Tigers (8-1) with 13 points, while Gina Nemi added eight and pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Rebels (1-8) were paced by Kayla Merrill with 12 points.

Lisbon 40, Boothbay 25

LISBON – Senior forward Sam Purcell drained 12 points to lead Lisbon to a 40-25 victory over Boothbay.

The Greyhounds (6-3) got into foul trouble early, but applied a successful press to convert high-percentage shots. Purcell collected five field goals and a pair of free throws for Lisbon.

Sophomore guard Kristen Sibley scored a team-high 11 points for the Seagulls (1-8).

EL 40, Mt. Ararat 38

TOPSHAM – Kirsten Prue nailed the winning basket with less than one second left in regulation to lift Edward Little to a 40-38 victory over Mt. Ararat in a KVAC girls’ basketball thriller Thursday evening.

Prue led the Red Eddies (8-2) with 27 points, including five 3-pointers.

Tess Hitchcock led the Eagles (4-6) with 11 points, while Ariel Leduc added nine.

Carrabec 43, Monmouth 23

NORTH ANSON – Senior forward Suzy Cote scored 14 points to lead Carrabec to a 43-23 triumph over Monmouth in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Cobras (5-4) dominated in the first half when Cote scored 12 of her 14 points to put Carrabec up 27-9 at the midpoint.

Senior forward Bethany Neal scored a team-high six points for the Mustangs (1-8) in the losing effort.

Leavitt 53, Morse 47

BATH – Adrianna Newton scored a game-high 27 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Leavitt to a 53-47 victory over Morse.

Courtney Anderson chipped in for the Hornets (6-4) with 17 points and five assists.

The Shipbuilders (1-8) were paced by Sara Fitzgerald with 15 points, while Ally Skillings added nine.

Girls’ hockey

St. Dom’s 5, Falmouth 3

FALMOUTH – Sophomore defensman Sophia Goulet scored a hat trick as St. Dom’s clipped Falmouth 5-3 in girls’ hockey action.

The Saints (6-5) inched their way ahead by scoring one more than the Yachtsmen in each of the first and third periods. Anna Desjardin scored a goal and two assists, while Alie Desjardin pitched in with a goal for St. Dom’s.

Junior forward Jacki Aaskov notched a pair of goals for Falmouth.

Goalie Nicole Keen turned back 10 shots to earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.
