In the town of Monmouth every year during the holiday season, the Cottrell -Taylor Food Drive takes place. The Cottrell-Taylor Food Drive collects food and gifts for the families in need in Monmouth. Food can be donated at several different locations around town, including Monmouth schools. This year, Monmouth Middle School had a competition amongst homerooms to gather food for the drive. The outcome for this year was outstanding. The school as a whole donated 1,280 items for the food drive. On a Tuesday morning, the last day of the food drive, a few students and Mrs. Howker, the Monmouth Middle School Student Council advisor, counted an overwhelming 389 items donated on that day alone. The winning homeroom was Mrs. Dennis’s sixth grade class, they donated 148 items.
We thank everyone who donated and wish all a happy and safe holiday season.
